Here is the birth announcement I designed for Kathleen and Patrick last month. They chose a textured watercolour paper, which worked perfectly with the image they selected. Declan is absolutely adorable with these mesmerising deep blue eyes. He was a little squirmy, but just too cute. They have planned to do several mini sessions - we did Kathleen's belly a few weeks before Declan was born, these at two and a half weeks and the next one in about six months - I am looking forward to watching him grow...

Anna & Jamie: Bermuda Photographers
Anna and Jamie were a bit reluctant at first, but with a little patience and wandering through the garden, I was able to get some great images. They both have these warm smiles and were so animated together it was truly a pleasure to photograph them.
At the back of the property was a small patch of corn. As we wandered back there, I said they could be the children of the corn. I was making reference to the horror movie from the 80s, their mother understood, but they had no clue what I was on about, but were happy to oblige.
But with all the wee little critters flying and crawling, they were not so amused - but they persevered... and even gave me a few smiles, so thank you both...

The Travis Family: Bermuda Photographers
When I first arrived at John Smith's Bay I was really worried; it was still incredibly bright, the beach was packed and all the grassy areas were filled with parked cars. In the middle, there were three small palmettos as it was the only shade, we crawled underneath them. And to my surprise the light was just magical - add beautiful little Abigael - and presto - divine photographs!!!
I photographed Ali and Karl's wedding on John Smith's Bay, so we thought this would be the perfect place to do their family shoot too...
Thank you for a great shoot, it was lovely to meet Abigail, she is just gorgeous!

The Barnard Family
The Barnard's live in a lovely house by the water overlooking Hamilton Harbour, with a tiny island just off the shore that they wander to at low tide. I loved the texture and colour of the rocks and the dramatic mix of sun and grey sky in the distance. I have been encouraging families to do their shoots at their homes rather that elsewhere as I think children are less distracted when in a familiar place. And it makes each shoot different and more special - so thank you Jo and Barney for a lovely afternoon in your garden...

The Rich Family: Bermuda Photographers
The Rich family came to Bermuda to celebrate Jim and Carol's 50th wedding anniversary. They came to Bermuda 30 years ago and have continued to return to celebrate their family's milestones. The cousins only see each other a few times a year so this trip was a wonderful opportunity for them to spend time all together. I sent Linda the link to the online gallery yesterday and this is the email I received from her...
"The photos are simply amazingly beautiful! I didn't know I could look so good and I was quite surprised by some of the images you caught (ring around the rosie, impromptu hugs, etc.) Beautiful job!!! You are amazing! I feel so blessed that we found you and that you were able to capture my entire family so beautifully - I know it wasn't the easiest shoot but you were able to snag those perfect moments!"
Linda thank you so much for your kind words and thank you all for a lovely afternoon...

The Scarborough Family: Bermuda Photographers
Like the Fritz family in the last post, the Scarborough family has also been coming to Bermuda each July 4th for many years and had a shoot during their time here. It gets easier and more fun each year as they are more comfortable with me and open to my whims.
Dorothy has such a timeless face, and loves being photographed, making my job a pleasure...
In previous years Helen has been tricky to shoot and I slightly felt like I was torturing her. But this year she was so much happier and was ok to pose for me...
Julia is so serene and graceful and a calming force for her siblings.
Henry is wonderfully animated and makes me chuckle with each expression.
They have been watching episodes of America's Next Top Model, so we had a little fun posing...
It was cloudy and incredibly blowy, so we just did a few on the beach at the end.
Thank you all for another amusing afternoon...

The Fritz Family
Bob and Peggy first came to Bermuda on their honeymoon in 1996 and have returned every year since. In 2003 they brought their children for the July 4th weekend - Mary was five, Maggie three and Michael one. That was when we first met and every year since we have done a family shoot. They are such an amazing family, and the kids are all so well behaved and truly a joy to photograph.
Kevin did not want to sit on the spiky grass, so opted to cuddle Peggy instead.
It has been wonderful to watch these girls grow, to change from adorable little girls into lovely, graceful young ladies...
Kevin was not as excited about any of this as the others, and did look at me with some trepidation...
But with a little encouragement from his siblings we finally saw that saucy little smile...
Michael had lost his front teeth, so many of the shots show his wonderful toothless grin, but I just love this one with his warm smiling eyes...
Thank you all for yet another wonderful afternoon...
