Bermuda Wedding: Susie and Jon

It was the most perfect sunny day. Susie and Jon were to be married on the Venetian yacht, so before departing, we shot a few family photographs at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. I felt it was important to do some on land - to be still and to have more control of the light and backgrounds. We had a Trash the Dress session scheduled for the next day at the beach, so I just shot a few formal portraits of them on the wedding day as I knew we'd have much more time the following afternoon. (I'll post those in a few days.) The cruise was beautiful - a slow jaunt around Hamilton Harbour, then we dropped anchor in the lee at the west end of Paradise Lakes. They exchanged their vows and at the end were both in tears, and then both laughed that they were crying - it was adorable.

There were butterflies everywhere - these decorate the rails of the Venetian.

Rum swizzle was served with these adorable drink sticks. And I see hearts everywhere - here it was in the puddle left on the dock from the rain that morning.

Rather than a large cake, they had individual cupcakes each topped with a beautiful, edible sugar butterfly. And at the top their pups - tiny porcelain replicas they had commissioned by an artist in British Columbia.

Evidently Jon is a huge football fan - I do believe I saw him sneak a peak at the scores at least once that day...

After the ceremony, the minister, violinist and I enjoyed a ride back to Hamilton on the Venetian's tender. We were all happy and so grateful that our professions allow us to spend time with people on one of the most important days of their lives - in such a magical place. So thank you both so much for an amazing afternoon...
