The Bermuda Festival - Imani Winds

This morning's Bermuda Festival outreach programme was with Imani Winds. The group is a wind quintet that have been playing together since 1997. They perform works by living composers, many of which they had commissioned specially for their group. They spent the morning explaining how each of their instruments make specific sounds and playing excerpts from their repertoire.  
There are still a few tickets available for tonight's concert, call 232-2255 or they can be purchased at the box office which opens one hour before the show.

Valerie Coleman is the group's flautist and has also composed some of the pieces they play.

Monica Ellis with her bassoon. To demonstrate her instrument's broad range, she played a few bars from Ravel's Bolero. Which is I think could be my absolute favourite piece of music.

Toyin Spellman-Diaz playing her oboe. From the wee morsels that were shared this morning, I am really looking forward to tonight's performance. The children had a wonderful time listening to each performer - they spoke beautifully and were wonderfully animated. Thank you all for an incredibly entertaining morning...
