I first went to the Beach House to photograph the interiors designed by Kim Hughes from Designs for Living. The second visit was with Laura Farge-Lowe to capture the stunning outdoor spaces that Island Trading had helped create.
"It’s not every day that one has the opportunity to work on such a significant new project. Island Trading’s brief was to furnish the many outdoor spaces in an elegant and unique style and to suit how we thought the owners would use the different areas."
"We took our inspiration from the indoor fabrics and finishes selected by the talented Kim Hughes. With such exquisite taste, she made our job easy! Our other reference point was the ocean; when inside the house, we wanted the eye, to continue straight through to the turquoise water of the pool and sea - the furniture could not be a visual barrier."
"We selected light coloured woven materials along with some teak pieces (such as the fabulous party bar!) which we knew would turn to a beautiful grey colour to blend with the decking by the pool.
One challenge we had was that we wanted each vignette to look different but at the same time to flow beautifully together. We combined different weaves, fabrics and even different suppliers to do this.
