Bermuda Wedding Featured in Destination Weddings magazine

Bermuda Bride was invited to participate in a feature for Destination Weddings & Honeymoon magazine. They asked ten planners to design a reception table for a wedding with a destination theme. Nikki was allowed to select six vendors to assist with the shoot. The magazine hit the newstands on Tuesday... Here are a few of my favourites...

Last year, I bought a box of antique bottles at an auction. I normally use them for flowers but thought that a message in a bottle would be the perfect addition to our story.
My sister Sacha kindly loaned us her collection of beautiful silver tea pots. We wanted to use something other than a traditional vase and as the idea for the shoot was to create a sense of place, the teapots were a perfect way to incorporate a little English finery. Petals created a lovely bouquet and arrangements for each of the pots with roses, rannunculus, anemones, eucalyptus, wax flower and dusty miller.

Lido devised a special Bermudian menu with, of course, Bermuda rum swizzles and fish chowder. I painted the stones found on my beach and the beautiful plate is from Pulp & Circumstance.

My mother - the wonderfully talented Joy Blackburne, helped me build this heart and table. We gathered driftwood off my little beach and attached each piece together lovingly one by one.

We could not seem to find quite the right paper, so we made the menus from these pale turquoise envelopes from Pulp & Circumstance.

Lara and Tori were our bride and groom; and lighting, lanterns and linens were provided by Tamisha at Ambiance Designs

Dr Seuss on Love...

I have long been a fan of Dr Seuss - Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, and my favourite, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. But I found this quote of his; I don't think it is from any of his stories, but it is just lovely, and to me, how love should be.
"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."
When I see Alexandra and Darren together, that is how I imagine they feel. Alexandra is one of my closest friends; and although I have never actually asked her, I can see that she is happier than she has ever been. The way she looks at Darren, the way he looks back and the way they smile and laugh together is just magical.
So thank you both for the honour of capturing your love, your joy and your laughter... xoxo
