Kate scheduled a photo session for her baby, Aidan who was sixth months old. She wanted this special time documented, so we were under pressure with Aidan growing quickly and crawling imminent. Also his grandparents were eagerly anticipating some photos of their newest grandchild. We attempted to meet several times, but had to reschedule due to the 13 inches of rain that June brought. Finally we had a day that looked like it would not rain so we went for it.
Aidan is a very happy baby just full of smiles, but upon first seeing me and my camera he was a bit shy and curious as to what all the fuss was about. Kate and Tom were there to provide some extra support and get Aidan back to his normal jolly self.
I have been living with family since my return from London as my cottage will not be ready until mid-August. They have a glorious garden with lots of amazing little nooks that are wonderful for photos. A few days before the Kellys' shoot I had noticed a small wooden bucket storing magazines hiding in a corner. I asked if I could borrow it for the shoot. It turns out it is an antique baby bath that they had brought back from China several years ago. Perfect!
His big sister Fiona had fallen asleep in the car but awoke from her nap and soon joined in the festivities. At two years old, Fiona was full of energy and not at all interested in sitting still. She did sit with her brother though, as these two are madly in love with each other. The humidity meant there was little hope of taming those curls, so shoes were kicked off and the good times began.
It was a humid day and the rain clouds were gathering so we had to work quickly. Kate and Tom were on hand for a few family shots and the entire family had a wonderful time sharing in this adventure. Ironically five minutes after wrapping up the session yet another downpour began. Thank you all for a fun shoot, Fiona and Aiden are so wonderfully animated and a true joy to photograph!
