May's Bump

May had her baby last week - an adorable little girl called Mika. But just two days before, we managed to do her pregnancy session. The weather has been absolutely fowl for weeks and we had rescheduled, but this time we were extremely lucky that it was a sunny morning and just warm enough for May to unbundle for some photos of her belly. Thank you for a beautiful shoot...

The Sangsters: Bermuda Photographers

Sam and Jeff are moving house this week and wanted to have some family photographs taken around their home and neighbourhood before leaving. We slowly meandered along the tiny lanes, Brandon rode his bike and Dylan skipped behind him. It was a beautiful crisp morning and it was great to watch the kids play together. I hope the move is going well and that you will be happy in your new home...

Through the Looking Glass

We took the exhibition down on Tuesday - it was rather sad seeing the gallery so empty. So I'm so glad we took lots of photos of the space. I also shot many of Alexandra's pieces for her website. The gallery spotlights provided a lovely sparkly backdrop and warm glow.
Many people said they were sad not to have made it to the gallery, so we are planning to have some of the work on display at Rock Island (weather permitting). We'll be there from 4-8pm on Friday evening and on Saturday from 10am - 2pm. Hope you can stop by for a coffee...

Sabrina

Sabrina is applying to the summer camp at the Royal Ballet in London. She needed some shots of specific positions to send them, so we met at the In Motion School where she is currently taking classes. After doing all the required poses, I suggested that we do a few portraits too while we were there as I had not photographed Sabrina since she was about three. Here are a few of my favourites...

The Prothero Family

Mark and Mary were guests at Susie and Jon's wedding on the Venetian in September and were themselves married in Bermuda several years ago. They have both been somewhat nomadic in their upbringing - Mark is English, but was born in Zambia and throughout his childhood, his family moved all over Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Mary's family also relocated frequently - she was born in Thailand, but lived in Europe, Australia and Asia. They both feel very attached to Bermuda as they were married here and Oliver was born here. We did the photographs at their house - a wonderful spot on Harrington Sound. It was an incredible windy day, but luckily they had a lovely protected courtyard and garden. Oliver is such an expressive baby, his wiggly eyebrows were just adorable. And Hudson their Pug was a little firecracker - he greeted me with a wee nip, but with that beautiful and funny face it was impossible to be mad at him. Thank you all for a lovely afternoon...

Last Few Days

Alexandra and I will be at the gallery tomorrow and are hosting a closing party on Monday evening.
Her jewellery is just beautiful and she has added some new pieces to the collection over the past two weeks. We are taking the show down on Tuesday, so hope you get a chance to stop by...

Couture Books

I have found a wonderful bookmaker to print my custom designed albums - Couture Book. Their mission is to create luxurious, unique, handmade coffee-table books. They apply the highest standards of integrity, creativity, quality, and innovation to create stunning books. Combining old-world binding techniques with the latest technology in printing they create one of a kind, heirloom books. The books are all handmade using the most beautiful fabrics and papers from around the world and bound using French silk. As such, the books take about 4-5 weeks to put together. They are priced with fewer images per page, in order to highlight the beauty of the images and the books themselves, so these books will be designed with an average of one to two photos per page. There are 31 different styles to choose from and can be designed in 8x8, 8x10, 10x10 or 10x13.
Giving back is an integral part of the company. A portion of each Couture Book will go to a charity through their “Build a Better World” programme. They work with nine different charities including the World Wildlife Fund, Habitat for Humanity and Room to Read. They believe in more than just the creation of beautiful books; they are committed to the community and to the planet. All books are printed on paper with at least 50% recycled content and are shipped with recyclable packaging and the Earth Collection books are printed on 100% recycled paper powered by wind energy. Here are a few of the books I have done - they are just divine and I am so pleased with the results.
