The Homans in Paris

I have photographed the Homans each October for many years. We have been to several beaches, Spittal Pond and done a few shoots at their home. Here is what Niamh wrote me about this shoot...

When we saw Amanda's Facebook post that she was going to be in Paris at the same time as we were, we thought that photo's in Paris would be such a fun and different experience, but still with a very personal connection having Amanda do them.  I always wanted to have photo's done in jeans and sweaters but the Bermuda weather never gave us that opportunity. This time the kids were wonderfully behaved and cooperated beautifully, although the reward of the playground in Jardin du Luxembourg was never far from their minds. Every photo shoot they both get more comfortable. When I asked them what they thought about seeing Amanda in Paris, Aisling said "cool" and Eoghan, "weird". It was a lovely evening in our own private corner outside the Louvre, followed by some fun in Jardin du Tuileries, not to mention a complete outfit change in open air for me which was both very risqué and funny and not something I can say I have ever done before. We had a lovely time in Paris seeing the sights, enjoying the crepes with nutella, playing on the playground and cheering Colm on in the Paris marathon at the end of the week. It was wonderful to see you in Paris, wonder where we will go next time....
It was wonderful; thank you all for a fabulous afternoon and evening...

My last day in Paris

I rose before the sun to make the most of my final day in the city. Paris was so quiet, it was almost eerie to be in the street alone. It was not long though before the rustle of life began; the sweeping of streets, the opening of bakeries, Parisians searching for coffee.

I had been in Paris for almost four weeks and had not been into the Louvre. I'd passed it day and night many times but had not ventured inside. So what better way to spend part of my last day?
There were already so many people there, but once inside I immediately ascended the stairs to the upper galleries and they were virtually empty save for a few artists hard at work.

I went back to the flat, exhausted having strolled around Paris since dawn and then the museum for four hours. At day's end I ventured out again. Strolled along the Seine and watched the sun set behind the Eiffel Tower. It had been a wonderful sojourn, but I was ready to return home. As much as I adore Paris, I did not realise how much I had missed the ocean...
